Cassellholme Community Support Services [CSS] provides Personal Support Workers [PSWs] and Homemakers to assist seniors* in the District of Nipissing, to live safely and as independently as possible in their own homes.

There is no fee for this service. Funding is provided through the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care. This service is free of charge and provided only to clients living in Castle Arms I, II, III, IV Corpus Christi and Keiller MacKay Apartments.

Personal Care: bathing, transferring, grooming, assisting with medication in blister pack or dosette only

Meal Assistance: heating and serving a prepared meal [i.e. Meals on Wheels]

Grocery Shopping: within walking distance for the Personal Support Worker

Light Housekeeping: vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and exterior services in kitchens, mopping floors. No heavy housework is performed.

Laundry Services: Client to pay for the use of coin-operated machines. PSWs will launder and fold clothes/linens.


The high risk senior may require the full range of personal support and essential homemaking services on a daily basis. 

There is no fee for this service. Funding is provided through the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care.

The North East Local Health Integration Network - Home & Community Care (NELHIN) determines eligibility.


This service provides relief to caregivers of seniors with: Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Confusion, Forgetfulness, Acute or Chronic Illness, Frailness and Disabilities.

The Personal Support Worker cares for the client in their own home to allow the caregiver to have a break.

There is no fee for this service. Funding is provided through the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care.


Meals are prepared at the Mattawa General Hospital in collaboration with the Community Support Services. Volunteers deliver the meals to clients living in Mattawa while providing a regular social contact.

Light Housekeeping: vacuuming, mopping floors, cleaning exterior surfaces of kitchen appliances, cupboards, backsplashes, cleaning bathrooms and dusting. 

Laundry Services: general laundry duties as required 

Meal Preparation: advanced meal preparation can be arranged, but VON Meals on Wheels is highly recommended for variety, nutrition and special diet requirements. 

The cost of the service is $7.00 per hour 


A monthly luncheon is provided at each Castle Arms I, II, III. 

A Friday night dinner is provided in the Garden Room at Cassellholme. 

A reasonable fee is charged for the meals. 


Cassellholme CSS [Community Support Services] sends a referral and makes arrangements to have an outside bonded company provide the following services [if available] at a fee set by the company.

Heavy and/or Seasonal House Cleaning: indoor walls, cupboards [inside & out], windows [inside & out], ovens, stoves, refrigerators  [inside & out], ceiling fans, drapery, upholstery, wood-burning stoves and chimneys.

Yard Maintenance: lawn mowing, weeding gardens


* The interRAI Community Health System [CHA] assessment tool is used to determine eligibility - except for Diners’ Club, Meals on Wheels and Home Maintenance & Repair and Transportation.
