Respiratory outbreak now facility-wide
Documents
The respiratory outbreak is now facility-wide. Symptoms may include sore throat, cough, fever, chest congestion and nasal discharge. Affected Residents have been PCR tested [polymerase chain reaction test is a way to look for the genetic material – DNA or RNA – of an infection] and all have come back negative so we're still looking for the cause.
Events which include all Residents have been suspended. Unit based activities will continue for now.
Visiting a Resident in isolation:
If you're an Essential Caregiver [ECG] or support worker visiting a Resident with a confirmed or suspected infection, N-95 masks, gowns and eye protection are required. If possible, consider postponing your visit to these areas for the duration of the outbreak.
General visitors:
General visitors are permitted, but must follow PPE usage as posted in each area. Masking is strongly recommended throughout Cassellholme. Hand sanitizing remains a vital defence against most illnesses. Please be diligent about keeping your hands clean. If you're unwell, don't visit.
We will update you as we know more. If you are coming in to visit or volunteer, please be careful in public settings. It is still cold and flu season. Thank you! We rely on you, and everyone coming into Cassellholme, to help us reduce infections.
